SHOCKING: 45-Yr-Old Father Rapes 16-Yr-Old Daughter

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 45-year old man, Toyin Sodimu, for allegedly raping his 16-year-old daughter in Temidire community of Oke Apo, Akomoje, Abeokuta.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement that the teenager reported the incident to the Adatan Police Division after her father raped her about 2am last Saturday.

Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said following Sodimu's arrest, the 16-year old girl had been taken to the hospital by the police for medical examination and treatment.

He added that the state Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye, had ordered an investigation into the incident and vowed that the suspect would be prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others.

The statement read in part, "The policemen attached to Adatan Divisional Headquarters in Abeokuta, Ogun State, have arrested one Toyin Sodimu in Temidire community of Oke Apo, Akomoje Abeokuta after he raped his own daughter, aged 16 year on Saturday.

"The lady went to report the ugly incident to the police in Adatan division after her father had forcefully had a carnal knowledge of her in her room at about 0200hrs on Saturday.

"The victim has been taken to the Abeokuta General Hospital by the police for examination and treatment.

"The Commissioner of police Ogun State, Ikemefuna Okoye, has ordered full scale investigation into the horrible incident and vowed to make the suspect face the wrath of the law to serve as deterrent to other cruel and devilish fathers who may want to venture into raping their daughters in the state.

"Okoye has also appealed to parents particularly mothers to keep watch on their children and avoid collapse of marriages which is perceived to be a catalyst to cases like this.

"He urges other rape victims to always emulate this victim's bravery to report any rape case which will help the police tackle rape and related offences in the state"

Adejobi said the police command would partner with the state's Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to find a lasting solution to the menace.
