Nelson Mandela has been in the hospital for two weeks recovering from lung infection and the South African government claims he is on the mend, but a CBS News report suggests otherwise. The South African government insisted Friday that Nelson Mandela was on the mend, but a jarring report by CBS News raised fresh concerns that his health might have actually taken a turn for the worse. Citing sources, the network said Mandela underwent a procedure to repair a bleeding ulcer and that his liver and kidneys were “functioning at 50%.” “We're told he hasn't opened his eyes in days and is unresponsive,” CBS reported. “We also understand that Mandela family members are discussing just how much medical intervention is enough for an old and very sick man.”
