Kenyans detained in Nigeria arrive in Nairobi


Eleven Kenyans who were held in Nigeria Nigeria have arrived in Nairobi aboard their chartered plane. The 11 Kenyans touched down at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport yesterday at 4 am after a five-hour flight from Lagos, Nigeria where they were being detained since June 3. The officials were expected to arrive in Nairobi on Thursday but failed after a hitch at Lagos that delayed their take off. The Kenyans were detained in a hotel on June 3 and their passports confiscated confiscated by Nigerian authorities who were unhappy that their countryman, suspected drug baron Anthony Chinedu had been deported after President Uhuru asked the police to deport drug dealers. The Kenyans who were detained are Capt Tim Kavingo, flight engineer Alaka Ochieng, flight attendant George Kamau and Ismael Adan. Others are first officer Rokshanker Masud, a Swede, immigration officials Baraza Okosa, Kariuki Ngugi, Mungathia Muriira, Padara Dipason, Kivutha Muthama, Andrew Kambi and Mutinda Kakindu. the-star
